Position Overview:

Finning Canada is looking for passionate and field experienced Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanics (Red Seal preferred) to join our team based in Elkford. Our Heavy Duty Mechanics are responsible for the troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of a variety of Caterpillar general line, forestry and mining equipment throughout the region in a field environment. This role offers an opportunity to work on ultra-class Caterpillar equipment, and service machinery for the biggest players.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions

  • Trouble shooting equipment and perform equipment repairs (possibility of remote locations)
  • Interface with customers, products and sales support
  • Working with the Supervisor on various tasks
  • Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements
  • Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment
  • Various related duties as required

**Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current Collective Agreement**

Specific Skills & Experience

  • Interprovincial Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Certification
  • Clean Drivers’ Abstract (5 yr)
  • Experience with forestry equipment is highly beneficial
  • Dedication to safety
  • Strong experience in Electrical, Hydraulic and Emissions systems are considered assets
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of the Caterpillar product line will be considered an asset
  • Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be considered an asset
  • Transmission or Hydraulic testing would be considered an asset
  • Previous gas engine and power generation experience would be considered an asset
  • Must have the ability to be fit tested and wear a respirator

Note:

  • This is a position based out of our Elkford branch

  • 7 x 7 Shift Rotation

  • Any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement.
