About the role

We are seeking a resourceful and confident Junior Property Accountant for an exciting temporary assignment. This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working in a manual, process-driven environment and can step in to help streamline daily accounting and operational tasks. The position is fully in-office and offers the opportunity to contribute to a growing business in the midst of a system implementation. For a candidate with the right experience and initiative, this role has the potential to evolve into a permanent position.

Responsibilities:

  • Process and manage bi-weekly check runs (approximately 100–150 checks) for 20 properties, including the mid-month and end-of-month payment cycles.
  • Maintain and route invoices using manual systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across all assigned properties.
  • Support and review A/P coding performed by Property Managers, with the opportunity to assume responsibility for this area during the assignment.
  • Maintain meticulous records and adhere to established accounting policies and procedures.
  • Proactively identify bottlenecks and help drive improvements to manual processes and workflow pipelines.
  • Assist the team with other general accounting and administrative duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and experience in an accounts payable or property accounting role.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a manual, paper-based environment and manage a high volume of transactions.
  • Self-motivated, assertive, and comfortable taking initiative to move tasks forward and resolve issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Clear, confident communication and the ability to work collaboratively with an easygoing team.
  • Proficiency in common accounting and office software.
  • Ability to work standard office hours and commit to an in-office position.

If you’re looking for a role where your voice and initiative can have an impact — and where hard work can potentially open the door to a longer-term opportunity — this is an ideal fit.
