What We Are Looking For Aird & Berlis is looking for a Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Coordinator who will assist the firm’s D&I Officer, together with the D&I Partner, in the execution of the firm’s annual D&I plan and engagement initiatives which includes training and events. The D&I coordinator will also be responsible for project coordination and administration related to all D&I activities. The ideal candidate should have professional communication and organizational skills along with project management and administrative coordination. This is a good position for someone who is detailed oriented and a self-starter who has excellent technical skills.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with the coordination of Firm Member Resource Groups (i.e., affinity groups) by maintaining committee member lists, scheduling meetings, managing logistics, and handling communication tasks
- Ensure and track completion of all mandatory D&I training to new firm members
- Assist with compiling potential speakers and educators for various D&I events/initiatives for approval
- Maintaining the firm's observance calendar for D&I-related events
- Liaising with the firm’s Events Team to assist with D&I-related events
- Collaborating with various firm departments and resources to complete tasks
- Helping with the deployment of the firm’s D&I survey and related reporting
- Assisting with all campaigns and initiatives, including Black History Month, International Women’s Day, Pride Month, Asian Heritage Month, National Indigenous Peoples Day, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Mental Health Week and others
- Documenting and tracking information related to client and prospective clients’ expectations for firm D&I programming
- Performing administrative responsibilities, such as submitting expense approvals and filing documents
- Providing onsite assistance during programs, with occasional flexibility of some overtime
- Undertaking other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Previous experience in a related or similar role, preferably in a professional services environment
- Law firm experience is an asset
- Preferred successful completion of post-secondary education in programs related to social studies, indigenous studies, women’s studies, diversity studies, human rights or a relevant program with a focus on D&I
- Experience with digital communications systems (Microsoft Teams, Vuture), CRM systems, survey systems, WorkTango, and eLearning systems (Respect in the Workplace) are an asset
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Position will require the handling of confidential information
