We are currently seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk (12-18 month Term) to join our team in our Winnipeg Terminal .
Summary The Accounts Payable Clerk will work collaboratively within our Accounts Payable team and will be responsible for receiving, processing, verifying, coding, and reconciling invoices. The AP Clerk will also perform cheque runs, reconcile vendor statements, and act as a first point of contact for external vendors.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Receives, processes, verifies, codes, and enters trade accounts payable invoices, ensuring that they are valid and authorized prior to payment
- Performs weekly cheque runs, matches cheques to appropriate supporting documentation, oversees the signing of cheques, and distributes cheques to vendors
- Acts as a first point of contact, via email and telephone, for the department, and responds to vendor inquiries in a timely manner
- Resolves discrepancies between invoices, statements, and payments
- Works collaboratively with the Accounting team for month-end closing duties, including expense accruals, journal entry keying, and sub-ledger reconciliation
- Maintains an organized workspace, and files open and processed invoices in a timely manner
- Communicates with the Assistant Controller regarding status of accounts or as issues arise
- Additional finance-related and administrative duties as assigned in support of departmental goals and objectives
- Participates and supports all Safety and Health initiatives
Qualifications One to two years of experience in accounts payable, accounting, and/ or bookkeeping. Strong communication skills, and able to provide timely and relevant information to both internal and external parties. A high level of attention to detail, effective time management, and strong organizational skills are required. Able to work well both independently and collaboratively within a fast paced environment. Experience with data entry and knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel are required; experience with an ERP system would be an asset. Knowledge of the Safety & Health policies and procedures.
Physical Requirements Some of the physical demands may include, but not be limited to: pro-longed sitting and using a computer and telephone for entire shift etc.
