The Opportunity
We are looking for a dynamic, responsible and organized individual with a background in child welfare, adult education and training facilitation. This position will have the responsibility for curriculum development and delivery, with a focus on Out of Home Care; using the PRIDE model of practice, Integrated Practice Strategies (IPS) and how they work in collaboration with the Structured Decision-Making model of practice in Saskatchewan.
Reporting to the Supervisors, Provincial CFP Recruitment and Training Teams, the Training Consultant will:
- Deliver in-service training aligned with Child and Family Programs (CFP) standards, from foundational to advanced levels.
- Facilitate adult learning environments for Ministry and First Nations Child and Family Services staff.
- Guide and coach supervisors and workers in applying curriculum, complex legislation, policies, procedures and standards.
- Provide case consultations, reviews, group supervision, and technical support to MSS staff and stakeholders.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with First Nations agencies across Saskatchewan in order to deliver training sessions.
- Integrate First Nations perspectives into child welfare practices and training.
- Evaluate training effectiveness and contribute to quality assurance strategies, summarize outcomes and identify improvements for senior leadership.
- Contribute to the development and revision of manuals and policy documents while designing and enhancing curriculum through research and needs analysis.
- Ensure curriculum addresses multicultural needs and complex family dynamics by coordinating training resources and collaborating with Indigenous Cultural Trainers.
- Monitor and report concerns regarding training participation or staff readiness.
- Support and mentor supervisors and staff on casework and supervisory roles through targeted coaching and feedback, including field coaching.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an independent leader that excels in communication, training and consulting skills with extensive knowledge and experience in adult education.
The successful candidate will have a working knowledge and expertise in:
- Ministry programs in Child and Family Services, including their philosophy, purpose, and service delivery systems; including Structured Decision-Making tools and Integrated Practice Strategies and their application.
- Adult learning principles including training, facilitation, educational theory, and adapting materials for diverse professionals.
- Relevant legislation and policies including child and family services legislation, abuse protocols, and family-centered case management.
- Social work foundations across individual, family, organizational, and community contexts, emphasizing human development and socio-economic issues.
- Research and analysis including trend evaluation, training adaptation, group dynamics, conflict resolution, and mediation for diverse audiences.
- Multicultural perspectives, with emphasis on First Nations and Métis beliefs, values, and community dynamics.
The knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through:
- A Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work, or an equivalent Social Work degree from an accredited university as approved by the SASW/CASW or CASWE.
- Extensive experience working in Child Protection Service Delivery and Community Services – within Child and Family Programs and;
- Several years of supervisory experience supervising professional staff.

This role involves regular non-standard working hours, including evenings as needed. Frequent travel within the province is required, and candidates must hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
