Health Researcher\Data Scientist - AI Models - Job Description: The project involves microsimulation of patient flow models as a proof of concept. The role focuses on designing and maintaining microsimulation models to represent patient trajectories through long-term care and other health services settings.
Health Researcher\Data Scientist - AI Models - Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain individual-level microsimulation models representing patient trajectories through long-term care and other health services settings.
- Use open-source simulation frameworks (e.g., SimPy, mesa, simpyLC in Python; OpenM++, SimYouLate, SimPaths in R) to support discrete-event, agent-based, or hybrid simulations.
- Incorporate demographic, health status, equity stratifiers, and care pathway data to model the life-course transitions of older adults through various care settings.
- Apply model validation, calibration, and sensitivity analysis techniques to ensure internal validity and policy relevance.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure models are policy-relevant and grounded in real-world data.
- Conduct scenario analyses to evaluate the impact of alternative seniors’ home care or LTC policies.
- Communicate model assumptions, limitations, and outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Translate simulation outputs into actionable insights for stakeholders through visualizations, reports, or briefings.
- Maintain documentation and version control of model architecture, parameters, and code.
Health Researcher\Data Scientist - AI Models - Mandatory Skills:
- 3+ years of experience as a Health Researcher\Data Scientist
- Experience creating microsimulation of patient flow models (POC)
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining individual-level microsimulation models
- Experience with open-source simulation frameworks (e.g., SimPy, mesa, simpyLC in Python; OpenM++, SimYouLate, SimPaths in R)
- Experience incorporating demographic, health status, equity stratifiers, and care pathway data
- Experience applying model validation, calibration, and sensitivity analysis techniques
Health Researcher\Data Scientist - AI Models – Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Healthcare industry experience
