Senior Azure Data Engineer This hybrid contract opportunity in the insurance industry focuses on modernizing enterprise data platforms through a major Azure migration. Working on-site in Toronto or Waterloo three days per week, you will be instrumental in designing data pipelines and cloud infrastructure that enable efficient, secure data operations.
What is in it for you:

- Incorporated Business Rate: $78-88 per hour.

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and manage data pipelines to support extraction, transformation, and loading from diverse sources.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployment using Terraform.
- Collaborate with architecture, security, and risk teams to implement current Azure guidelines and best practices.
- Work with business stakeholders to recommend data solutions that support strategic goals and decision-making.
What you will need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, IT, or a data-related field.
- Master’s degree is a plus.
- 6+ years of data engineering experience with Azure-related data technologies.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS), and Synapse (Serverless, dedicated, Spark pools).
- Proficient in Python, PySpark, and T-SQL.
- Experience crafting and developing scripts for ETL processes and automation in ADF and Azure Databricks.
- Solid understanding of Azure infrastructure, including subscriptions, resource groups, and resources.
- Knowledge of access control using RBAC (role-based access control).
- Experience integrating with Azure AD.
- Familiarity with Azure security principles, including user groups, service principals, and managed identities.
- Understanding of network concepts such as VNet, Subnet, NSG rules, and private endpoints.
- Skilled in password, credential, and key management, along with data protection techniques.
- High proficiency in Git, Jenkins, and DevOps processes for maintaining and troubleshooting production data pipelines.
- Knowledge of implementing Azure technologies and networking via Terraform.
- Ability to troubleshoot Azure infrastructure issues in production environments.
- Experience with data modelling, data marts, and data lakehouse architecture.
- Familiarity with Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD), data mesh, and Delta Lake.
