Job Description

As a Night Auditor, you are accountable for balancing and closing the day’s business accurately and timely, preparing the hotel for the next day’s operation, and ensuring all our guests and employees' safety. You have the authority to exceed guest expectations and create a lasting positive impression on each guest. Additionally, you will achieve excellence by maximizing room revenue every shift while delivering against key financial goals for the department. Ultimately, you are a key component in making each guest’s experience warm, pleasant, and memorable.

Key Focuses

  • Maintains a friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor during all guest encounters and responds appropriately to guest complaints.
  • Ensures the front desk, lobby, and guest entrance are “picture-perfect” for optimal first impressions.
  • Keeps track of arrivals, departures, and in-house daily activities and organizes VIP amenities where appropriate.
  • Efficiently books guest reservations requested by phone, in person, or online.
  • Processes payment types such as room charges, cash, checks, debit, or credit and balances and process all credit card batches.
  • Completes daily auditing, balancing, and closing procedures accurately and efficiently.

Experience/Passions/Education

  • Previous experience in front desk, night audit, or in a hotel is an asset.
  • Experience processing and managing financial transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Proficient in English both written and oral.
  • Experience with PMS systems. Opera experience an asset.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the hospitality industry.
  • Will act as a leader during the nighttime in the absence of Senior Leadership at the property.
  • Highest level of attention to detail as it relates to not only task-oriented functions but also to cleanliness of work and guest areas i.e. "Be the eye of the guest"
  • Knowledge of reading Night Audit reports and the know-how to balance Daily Sales is required.
  • Computer literacy is imperative including applications in Opera, CloudPM, Windows, MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Experience in handling guest feedback tactfully via email, telephone, guest feedback portals and in person.
  • You must be self-directed and have previous cash handling experience.
  • A Degree/Diploma in Hospitality Administration from a recognized institute would be an asset.
  • Must be calm under pressure, assertive, honest, and discreet.
  • Ability to stand for an extended period of time.

Working Conditions

This position will include night shift any day of the week or weekend and the occasional day shift or afternoon or evening shift if needed. This position will require long periods of standing and may require lifting and bending. There will be mostly independent, unsupervised work and brief periods of exposure to cold air due to the location of the front desk.
