Interconnections Manager - FTR

Position Highlights
As a key member of the Transmission Generator Interconnections team, you will play a pivotal role in addressing BC’s

increasing electricity demands. Reporting to the Manager, Customer Interconnections - Transmission Generators &

Relocations, you will contribute to the vital task of connecting power generators to BC Hydro’s transmission grid, ensuring a

sustainable and reliable energy future for the province. You will also play an important role in enabling customers to achieve

their land-development goals by managing customer-driven requests to modify or relocate BC Hydro’s Transmission

infrastructure.

What you'll do

  • Manage highly complex projects from initial request to preliminary project development; the projects will focus on either (1)

building new or upgrading interconnections for electricity generators to BC Hydro’s transmission grid or (2) managing

customer-driven modifications to the transmission grid.

  • Act as the primary customer contact, providing project and escalation support, facilitating technical discussions with BC

Hydro experts, and fostering strong relationships to understand customer’s goals. Your customer portfolio will include

Independent Power Producers, internal BC Hydro stakeholders, land developers, commercial real estate entities, industrial

clients, and more.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks in collaboration with other BC Hydro experts, ensuring project-delivery is cost-

effective and adheres to regulations, such as the Open Access Transmission Tariff.

  • Drive improvements to team operations, external communications, and customer deliverables to elevate both team

performance and and customers’ experiences.

  • Develop and manage service contracts, ensuring compliance from both BC Hydro and customers.

What you bring

  • Degree or diploma in a field such as Engineering, Business, Project Management or other related discipline. Candidates

with a combination of transferrable experience and lesser formal education may be considered

  • 8+ years of work experience with progressive growing responsibilities, including managing high-profile work, leading

projects and/or owning customer relationships.

  • A customer-centric mindset with a strong drive to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and

accessible manner.

  • Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.

  • Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Familiarity with the customer types mentioned above.
  • Experience within the electricity generation sector or the utility industry.
  • Knowledge of Open Access Transmission Tariffs and/or utility business models
  • Understanding of system planning, electrical utility operations, electrical reliability issues, and/or electrical generation or

transmission systems.
