IT Senior Business Analyst

Job Overview

The IT Senior Business Analyst ensures the effective identification and documentation of business requirements, establishes best practices for solution delivery, and oversees the successful implementation and adoption of solutions. This role aims to improve business processes, support decision-making, and foster a collaborative and adaptable team environment to achieve organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Requirements Analysis and Documentation: Identify, analyze, and document requirements and use-cases related to business processes and systems, resulting in clear and actionable functional problem definitions.
  • Establish Best Practices: Contribute to the establishment of OPG best practices for the solution delivery cycle, leading to more efficient and effective project execution from elicitation to maintenance.
  • Solution Roadmap Management: Oversee the solution roadmap and prioritization framework for the line of business, ensuring well-managed backlogs and prioritized tasks that align with business goals.
  • Solution Acceptance and Rollout: Lead the acceptance, rollout, and stakeholder education for new solutions, ensuring successful adoption and effective use of implemented solutions.
  • Business Process Improvement: Utilize tools to analyze, document, and improve business processes, resulting in optimized workflows and increased operational efficiency.
  • Collaboration with IT Teams: Collaborate with IT-led technical teams to ensure that solution requirements are met, leading to successful project outcomes and satisfied stakeholders.
  • Ad Hoc Business Analysis: Create unique and ad hoc business process analyses to support decision-making, providing valuable insights and recommendations.
  • Executive-Level Presentations: Develop executive-level presentations to synthesize findings and provide recommendations, facilitating informed decision-making at the leadership level.
  • Project Planning and Risk Management: Provide input to project plans, status updates, and estimates, and identify, document, and mitigate or escalate project risks, ensuring project success and risk mitigation.
  • Continuous Learning and Best Practices: Engage in continuous learning of advanced methods and best practices, contributing to personal and organizational growth.
  • Mentoring and Motivating: Share expertise, mentor, and motivate team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Demonstrate the ability to take on additional responsibilities and tasks as needed, contributing to the overall success and adaptability of the team and organization.

Qualifications

  • Education: A four-year university degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics plus 1 year of concentrated study in Business.
  • Experience: 8-10 years of relevant experience to manage large meetings with stakeholders and senior executives, challenge and ask difficult questions, work independently, face complex multi-system challenges, understand macro strategy, and apply at micro-level use cases.
  • Skills:
  • Expertise in advanced requirements elicitation methods, including Document Analysis, Focus Groups, Interface Analysis, Usage/Workflow Observation, Value Stream Mapping, and Business Process Modeling.
  • Experience leading or participating in business transformation projects of various sizes, from process improvement initiatives to large-scale solution implementations.
  • Proficiency in advanced documentation techniques such as UML, BPMN, DFD, CFD, A3, and Gantt charts.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence and reporting tools is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess workflows, optimize processes, and identify efficiency improvements.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, including listening, learning, written communication, group facilitation, teamwork, and personal initiative and accountability.
  • Preferred experience in change management, stakeholder engagement, and business strategy alignment.
  • Flexible and collaborative working style, sharing expertise within teams and independently addressing complex problems with precision.
  • Detail-oriented and skilled in requirements elicitation, with a keen curiosity, analytical mindset, and a passion for solving complex problems.
