Job Description:
Reporting to the Director, People and Culture, the Associate Manager, People and Culture Programs plays a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive, engaged, and high-performing workplace. You will lead a team dedicated to advancing programs that support inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility (IDEA), employee engagement, recognition, and flexible work.
As a thought leader in IDEA, you’ll drive the development and implementation of the College’s multi-year IDEA blueprint, support workforce analytics, lead training and policy reviews, and oversee compliance with key legislative frameworks such as the Federal Contractors Program (FCP) and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). You’ll also support employee recognition and flexible work initiatives that enhance our organizational culture and overall employee experience.
This is a unique opportunity to lead impactful work that advances a diverse and inclusive workplace, while championing employee-focused programs and strategic HR priorities across the College.
What You’ll Do
Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility (IDEA):
- Lead the design and implementation of the College’s multi-year IDEA Blueprint
- Conduct policy reviews to identify and remove systemic barriers to inclusion
- Oversee compliance with the Federal Contractor’s Program and AODA
- Use data and workforce analytics to enhance equity and representation
- Guide and evaluate IDEA-related training programs and learning materials
- Collaborate with Indigenous Initiatives and external community partners
- Lead cross-College IDEA committees and affinity groups
- Serve as an internal subject matter expert and advisor to senior leadership
- Develop IDEA reports and communications for internal and executive audiences
HR Programs:
- Lead employee recognition initiatives, including service awards and celebrations
- Support enhancements to onboarding, orientation, and Workday-driven processes
- Monitor and evaluate program outcomes and recommend continuous improvements
Team Leadership:
- Provide strategic direction and support to the Employee Experience and HR Programs team
- Foster a culture of high performance, collaboration, and psychological safety
- Manage staffing, performance, development, and budget planning for the portfolio
- Contribute to HR leadership initiatives and collaborate across departments
HR Project Support:
- Act as project lead or support for local and provincial HR initiatives within your mandate
- Provide leadership input into the advancement of core People and Culture strategies
What You Bring
- Minimum four (4) year university degree, preferably in Human Resources, Psychology, or in a related field. Equivalent experience, in accordance with the “equivalencies process” will be considered;
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or a certificate in Recruitment and Talent Acquisition is required;
- A Certified Human Resources Leaders (CHRL) designation is preferred;
- Minimum seven (7) years in Human Resources or related overall, with several years specifically within the Diversity specialization or related fields (e.g. Engagement, Recognition, etc.)
- Experience designing and implementing IDEA programs and strategies
- Expert knowledge of employment equity, diversity, and inclusion principles
- Strong understanding of AODA, FCP, and accessibility obligations
- Demonstrated competence in leveraging HR analytics to guide decisions
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives and projects to successful completion
- Effective leadership, coaching, and team development skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with a collaborative mindset
- Exceptional writing and reporting skills
- Experience in a unionized environment and understanding of college structures
- Proven planning, problem-solving, and change management expertise
- A demonstrated commitment to equity, human rights, and inclusive practices
