Here’s the scoop - Summary

The Senior Manager, FP&A is responsible for preparing financial analysis, business reporting and facilitating operational financial reporting. This position supports the Director FP&A in managing short term and long-term financial planning processes (annual budget, latest estimate updates, strategic growth plan). Provides analysis of financial performance against key performance indicators and distills results into insightful, actionable recommendations. The position works out of one of our corporate offices (Edmonton/Louisville), and reports to the Director, Financial Planning & Analysis.

What a typical day looks like

  • You are responsible for the FP&A scope of Global Champion Petfoods Net Cash from Operations delivery, from aligning the North Star and long-term trajectory, to understanding mid-term trends and 6-Quarter rolling YEE, to running NCFO target setting process with Segment and Regions, to driving insights on actual performance in the Period close.
  • Support the delivery of CPF’s NCFO targets and long-term trajectory by building the understanding of how to leverage and drive actions on Working Capital. This requires strong collaboration both within Finance and across other functions, e.g. with the different functions in VCO (IE, Commercial) on FAA, Inventories and AP, with Regions on AR and AL delivery, and with ICTC on Tax Payments forecasting.
  • Drive capability building in the Finance organization around NCFO analysis and forecasting, DCC metrics, Working Capital action plans. This includes driving and supporting the build of digital reporting and forecasting capabilities as part of the transformation to become an easy company to work for, enabling data democratization and self-service tools.
  • Shares accountability for the Quarterly Rhythm of Performance of Global CPF, driving key topics in the S&OP+, preparing insights and reviews with Leadership Team and other key stakeholders. This is the shared ownership of the Global FP&A team and this role is a key part of driving this in the team.
  • Coordination of the Global FP&A processes around Overheads (Manufacturing, Logistics, Franchise and Sales, General and Admin) (>$100m budget), supporting an important efficiency agenda over the next years to drive competitiveness of the business. This includes understanding the key drivers of actual performance, YEE analysis and AEP target setting coordination in strong collaboration with respective Finance Business Partners per function, and the Regional FP&A Community. Review of SWB, EXP and x-charges with budget owners to support tracking and target delivery.
  • Collaboration with Fin Ops on setting up controlling structures/ data capture and flagging any quality of accounts issues in the OVHDS space. Steering of the dialogue with Corporate functions around spend, SWB and keeping track of recruitments / investments, to drive accountability, gap closings, provoke an efficiency mindset and trigger re-investment opportunities. Requires democratizing data sets among the organization leaders.
  • Other tasks as assigned

What you'll bring

    • Post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
    • CPA or other finance professional designation preferred.
    • Minimum five years’ experience in a Manager or leadership role.
    • Minimum two years’ experience within the consumer-packaged goods industry preferred.
    • Very strong financial writing skills. Ability to tell the story around the numbers.
    • Experience with ERP systems, including reporting tools.
    • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Microsoft Excel.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong attention to detail, demonstrated integrity and professionalism.
    • Excellent project managerial and interpersonal skills.
    • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with ability to develop and sustain

    successful internal and external working relationships.

    • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
    • Ability to facilitate and coordinate multiple deadlines, create cohesive teams, and respond

    quickly to management requests.

    • Proven ability to perform under pressure and stress and to adjust plans to meet changing needs

    and requirements.

    • Working extended days and weekends as necessary.
