The Opportunity
Deveraux Developments is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our expanding finance team in Calgary. Reporting to one of our divisional Controllers and providing cross-functional support to a second Controller, this newly created role reflects the evolving needs of our growing organization. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in supporting accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls across a portfolio of entities within the Deveraux Group of Companies. What you bring...
- CPA designation
- Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in public practice
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with accounting software (QuickBooks Desktop experience is an asset)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with a proactive and solution-oriented approach
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset
- A desire to learn and grow, with a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence
You will...
- Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information through day-to-day accounting tasks, including journal entries, invoicing, and reconciliations
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual GST, PST, and RST returns and remittances
- Prepare working papers and support the completion of annual financial statements and tax filings across multiple entities
- Assist with external audit requirements
- Prepare ad hoc accounting and reporting activities, as assigned
- Participate in finance initiatives focused on automations, process simplification, enhanced controls and documentation and future system conversions
- Provide coverage and support to other accounting team members
