About the role
Lloyd's Register Location: Vancouver, Canada What We’re Looking For To support our expanding business Vancouver region, we are seeking to add a Marine and Offshore Senior Surveyor to our team. The focus for this role will be to support new construction in the area, as well as surveys on ships in service.
The Role This position would be suitable for a candidate with a marine engineering degree, mechanical engineering degree, or equivalent. The candidate must demonstrate experience in conducting new construction classification society surveys.
In addition to having excellent communication skills, the candidate will demonstrate strong knowledge of the rules of major international classification societies, especially Lloyd’s Rules.
While in LR, you will pursue continuous professional development to remain fully knowledgeable about the technical considerations that are pertinent to clients, and merge that with a deep understanding of classification society rules, offshore regulations and relevant international standards. You will assess all risks and work in a safe manner at all times, reporting in a timely manner all incidents including near miss and safety observations.
What You Bring
- Experience working as a new construction project manager [preferably with an IACS member], or an equivalent combination of field experience as a ship superintendent or chief engineer dealing with both ships and offshore assets.
- Fluency in English language (verbal and written)
- Significant technical competence in new construction and existing ship and associated statutory requirements.
- The ability to travel throughout the region.
- A degree or equivalent within a relevant field of engineering study.
- Thorough understanding of the local marine and offshore environment
- Ability to participate in and add value to technical discussions with clients and LR colleagues.
- Organizational and planning skills, ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.
- Intermediate or advanced experience using MS Office suite of products: Word, Excel, Outlook
- Knowledge of ISM, ISPS MLC certification and Passenger ship surveys will be advantageous.
