The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager of Community Engagement Services, the Supervisor of Community Engagement is responsible for the supervision of the Community Engagement Services unit comprised of Community and Corporate Events, Age-Friendly Caledon, and Community Support. The Supervisor oversees a non-unionized team responsible for the execution of Caledon’s Events Framework, Age-Friendly Caledon Plan, Volunteer Management, Sport Facility Allocation, Community Investment, and Community Group Affiliation. The Supervisor leads the development and execution of Town-led festivals and events such as Caledon Day, acts as liaison with local non-profits, service clubs and other affiliated organizations, and leads the implementation of Caledon’s community investment programs.
As the Supervisor, Community Engagement you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
- Lead a team responsible for the planning, development and execution of seasonal sport facility scheduling including execution of facility allocation and affiliation, policies, and procedures.
- see the implementation and execution of community investment programs such as municipal grants and in-kind support opportunities.
- Identify trends, demographics, and new techniques to determine the needs of the applicable facilities and communities ensuring that the market is responsive.
- Participate in critical planning, advertising initiatives and sponsorship development to support the Community & Cultural Development division.
- Investigate and resolve customer complaints and concerns. Ensure a positive relationship between staff and citizens, deal with escalated issues.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate customer satisfaction and identify enhancements to product and services; form action plans from data collected to maximize growth potential.
- Required to make decisions regarding affiliate group status, funding opportunities, facility allocation priorities. Resolution often requires referring to governing by-laws and regulated processes.
- Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an experienced professional with a post-secondary degree or diploma in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Community Engagement, Event management or closely related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and progressive experience. Our ideal candidate has a minimum of five (5) years related experience in a recreation setting, and a minimum of three (3) years at a supervisory level.
Certification(s) in change management, municipal administration, community development, event management, project management, quality assurance, leadership or other related qualifications are an asset.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of recreation service delivery, business planning, budget management and municipal administration. We are seeking an individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to ensure suitable agreements, decisions are reached.
The successful candidate for this position will be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).
This position offers a salary range of $103,595.84 - $129,494.80- plus a competitive benefit package.
Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
