About the role
Reporting to the Centre Director, you will be an integral member of the Kids & Company team, supporting the overall management of daily kitchen operations. Your role will involve food preparation and cooking, following Kids & Company standards to align with our mission statement.
Responsibilities
- Daily Duties include heating food, preparing vegetables and starches, cutting fruit, portioning, dishwashing, and delivering food to the classrooms
- Assist the Chef in preparing meals and snacks for children with special dietary requirements.
- Ensure proper food storage and disposal, maintain temperature logs, and comply with all health regulations and best practices.
- Follow proper washing and sanitizing procedures for all dishware after collection from classrooms
- Uphold the kitchen cleaning schedule, including daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.
- Duties and responsibilities may evolve depending on the daycare center’s needs.
What you need
- 1–2 years of experience in a Kitchen Assistant role.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Current Food Handler Certification, or willingness to obtain it.
- Experience in a daycare environment is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract.
- Strong communication skills.
- A clean criminal record check is required.
- Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 45 pounds.
