Sessional Instructor: Department of Physics and Astronomy, Faculty of Science

The Department of Physics and Astronomy within the Faculty of Science invites applications for a Fall 2025 Term PHYS 227 Sessional Instructor.

The successful candidate will have responsibilities for lecture instruction and any other associated duties for this 3-unit course, including laboratory and tutorial components.

PHYS 227 - Classical Physics (in-person)

PHYS 227 provides a study of Vector algebra; statics and kinematics of rigid bodies; Newton’s laws of motion; conservation laws; collisions; rotational mechanics; computer modelling of physical systems; approximation methods.

Teaching Schedule: MWF 4:00-4:50 PM

Fall 2025 Term Dates:

Fall Term: Monday, August 25, 2025 - Wednesday, December 24, 2025

Contract Start Date: Friday, August 1, 2025

Start of Classes: Tuesday, September 2, 2025

End of Classes: Friday, December 5, 2025

Qualifications:

The successful candidate(s) should hold a MSc or PhD in Physics or a closely related field and have a demonstrated record of teaching effectiveness and engagement with students.

Remuneration is calculated according to the Collective Agreement, Schedule B. Please see the Faculty Association's website at www.tucfa.com for further information regarding conditions of employment and remuneration.

As per the Collective Agreement, the Department of Physics and Astronomy will adhere to the right of first refusal terms (Section 23.12.1 and 23.12.2) for Sessional Appointments.
