Overview
We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Accounts Payable Clerk to join our accounting team. This position plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of our organization, with a focus on the efficient and accurate processing of all accounts payable functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of supplier and subcontractor invoices, expense claims, and purchase orders.
- Perform and manage weekly cheque runs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of various payment methods and ensure appropriate use.
- Reconcile supplier statements and address any discrepancies.
- Reconcile accounts payable balances within the general ledger.
- Manage and maintain company credit card accounts and transactions.
- Identify and recommend improvements to current paperless systems and AP workflows.
- Manage WCB and WorkSafe BC accounts
Qualifications and Experience:
- Post-secondary certificate, diploma, or coursework in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a dedicated accounts payable role, ideally within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of GST, PST, and HST regulations.
- Familiarity with construction-related financial environments and terminology.
- Experience with Viewpoint Software is considered an asset, though not required.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proven ability to manage tight deadlines and perform under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Demonstrated discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality.
