About the role

Allied is looking for a Data Solutions Architect to join our Technology team in Toronto.

At Allied, everything starts with purpose. In the role of Data Solutions Architect, you will lead the charge in designing, building, and continuously evolving Allied’s next‑generation data pipelines — laying the foundation for robust data lakes and, when appropriate, data‑warehouse solutions. The Data Solutions Architect will integrate data from Yardi ERP System and smart building systems (BAS, access control), IoT sources, and other operational systems, employ modern data‑engineering best practices, and enable AI‑driven insights that unlock value across the portfolio. If you are the kind of architect who doesn’t just draw the blueprint but helps build the entire house, make it smart, and wire it for the future — you will feel right at home. Reporting to the Director of the PMO, you will join a nimble, high impact team.

Who are you?

We are building upon our achievements at Allied, and the future is exciting. How can we be so sure? We have people like you: engaged professionals who consistently deliver their best.

Throughout your career, you have stood out for your pursuit of excellence. You are self-motivated, take ownership and lead by example. In doing so, you elevate your team and collaborate towards your collective goals.

Above all, you are excited by Allied’s mission and the contribution we make to enhance cities and communities.

What will you do?

  • Architect and design scalable, secure, and robust enterprise data platforms—from data lakes to purpose built warehouses—leveraging Microsoft tools (Fabric, Power Platform, Power BI) and AWS (e.g., S3, Glue, Redshift).
  • Set the target state architecture, standards, and technology stack, producing roadmaps and reference designs that align with business priorities and data governance.
  • Select and implement modern data tools that fit our Microsoft centric ecosystem while remaining cloud agnostic when advantageous.
  • Define and enforce vision and standards for documentation, testing, monitoring, and ongoing platform evolution.

Data Integration and Engineering

  • Lead data integration initiatives across Yardi ERP System, Microsoft services (Power Platform, Fabric, SharePoint, Power BI), smart building systems (BAS, access control, IoT), and third‑party applications.
  • Work with stakeholders to prioritize ingestion pipelines, data governance models, and real‑time analytics capabilities.
  • Champion data quality, security, lineage, cataloging, and observability as foundational elements; optimize performance and cost of cloud services.

Data Governance, Analytics and AI Enablement

  • Collaborate with the Data Governance committee to enhance data governance frameworks (ownership, access, privacy, retention) and champion data quality and performance.
  • Connect our AI investments with curated, trusted data resources, enabling predictive capabilities and smart automation.
  • Collaborate across departments, Finance, Leasing, Portfolio Operations, and beyond, to unlock data driven insights and faster decision making.
  • Drive innovation by proposing new data products, real time analytics, and self service BI experiences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What are we looking for?

  • 8+ years designing and implementing enterprise data platforms—data lakes, warehouses, and large scale pipelines—and preparing data for advanced analytics and AI workloads.
  • Deep expertise with the Microsoft data & AI stack (Fabric, Power Platform, Power BI, Azure data/compute services) with ability to configure AI compute and optimize storage.
  • Solid grasp of machine learning fundamentals, large language models (LLMs), and generative AI concepts; able to adapt to meet the requirements of Allied’s use cases.
  • Working knowledge of MLOps practices (versioning, CI/CD, feature stores, model monitoring).
  • Advanced SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Scala).
  • Proven track record integrating ERP data, ideally Yardi, or similar real estate/financial systems.
  • Proven ability to lead data projects through full lifecycle within a formal PMO/SDLC framework, delivering under Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies.
  • Basic familiarity with AWS data tooling (S3, Glue, Redshift) considered an asset.
  • Strong communication skills to translate business needs into technical and AI driven solutions.

Would be an asset:

  • Experience ingesting and modelling IoT or BAS data (HVAC, access control, sensors).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform, Fabric, and Power BI semantic modelling.
  • Hands on exposure to ML/AI frameworks and MLOps practices.
  • Real estate or property management industry experience.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer, TOGAF, DAMA DMBOK).
