About the role

Temporary General Internal Medicine Opportunity – NRGH

We are currently recruiting temporary General Internal Medicine (GIM) physicians to support inpatient care at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). This is a short-term opportunity designed to stabilize and sustain our Acute Medical Service, while also offering physicians flexibility and opportunity to contribute to an expanding program.

Position Overview

We are seeking physicians who can commit to two weeks of service every two months, over a six-month period. Some flexibility is available in scheduling, and we welcome discussions around alternate arrangements.

Each two-week block will include:

  • Week One:

  • Rounding on the Acute Medical Service

  • Option for Weekend on-call coverage

  • Week Two:

  • Three evenings of on-call and overnight coverage, admitting to the acute service

Compensation

  • On-call shifts will be billed Fee-for-Service (FFS) with a guaranteed minimum of six consults per evening for patients admitted to the Acute Medical Service.
  • The Acute Medical Service will be funded at enhanced rates to support this intensive model of care.
  • Travel and accommodation funded via ETSP including: Honorarium for travel time, meal allowance while traveling, coverage for personal or economy commercial transportation to and from the coastal community and accommodation provided during the service period
