Hours of Work: 8 hrs/day

Duties: In addition to the duties of a Facility Operator, the Head Facility Operator oversees the day-to-day operation of the facility and works with the Principal and Facilities Supervisor to support the training of new Facility Operator staff.

Education & Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Grade 10 diploma from a recognized educational institution as approved by the Board of Education or General Educational Development (GED)
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (W.H.M.I.S.) Certificate
  • Six (6) months experience in a cleaning/caretaking position
  • A working knowledge of computers
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • Ability to deliver written and oral instructions for safe, competent use of caretaking supplies, operation of cleaning equipment, and the execution of proper school caretaking procedures
  • Ability to plan and expedite the cleaning programs as they pertain to the facility

Physical Requirements: Good physical condition with the ability to do heavy work is required (i.e., exerting up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects). The ability to work off lifts, in crawlspaces, attics, roofs, and ladders.

Wage & Benefits: In accordance with the current CUPE Local 5512 Collective Bargaining Agreement. Currently, this is a rate of $24.62 per hour.
