Position: Floor Technician

Job Description
Merit Cleaning Services delivers best-in-class cleaning services within hotels, commercial
offices, residential buildings as well as private residential dwellings throughout the HRM.
We are currently hiring a Floor Technician who is responsible for ensuring that all floor
surfaces, including carpets, tiles, vinyl, and wood floors, are well-maintained, clean, and in
good condition. They perform a variety of floor care duties, including cleaning, waxing, and
buffing repairing floors.
What you will be doing:
- Sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing floors to remove dirt, stains, and debris
- Vacuuming carpets and upholstery to remove dust and dirt
- Applying floor cleaning chemicals or treatments as necessary
- Stripping old wax from floors using specialized machines
- Applying new wax to floor surfaces for protection and shine
- Buffing floors to restore their shine and enhance their appearance
- Reporting any damaged tiles
- Operating and maintain floor care equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, and
vacuums
- Ensuring that cleaning equipment is kept in good working condition and properly
cleaned after use
- Ensuring proper safety precautions are followed while handling cleaning chemicals
and machinery
- Maintaining and organize cleaning supplies and equipment in a safe and orderly
manner.
- Reporting any issues related to floor maintenance or equipment malfunctions to the
supervisor

Performing deep cleaning tasks such as steam cleaning or carpet shampooing

Performing periodic floor care tasks based on specific schedules or as needed

Providing recommendations for specific floor treatments or repairs

Assisting with other general cleaning tasks as required

Such other similar and related duties as may be reasonably required by the
Employer from time to time
The person we are looking for has:
- Attention to Detail: Ability to spot floor damage and cleanliness issues
- Physical Stamina: The job may require lifting, bending, and standing for
extended periods
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with various floor care machines and cleaning
solutions
- Time Management: Ability to complete tasks efficiently within a designated
timeframe
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safe cleaning practices, including handling
chemicals and machinery
- Previous experience in janitorial, custodial, or floor maintenance work is
preferred
