Summary

The Technical Sales Manager is responsible for developing accurate, cost-effective, and application-appropriate truck specifications for customers and the dealership sales team. This role requires a deep understanding of heavy-duty truck components, vocational applications, OEM offerings, and regulatory requirements. The incumbent works closely with customers, sales representatives, manufacturers, and internal departments to ensure the truck builds meet operational needs, performance expectations, and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Sales Operations Manager, GM, and VP Sales to develop team performance strategies
  • Prepare vehicle specs using OEM tools (TOPS); ensure compatibility with applications
  • Maintain current knowledge of OEM options, technologies, and regulations (emissions, weights)
  • Provide technical guidance/training to sales team on products, compatibility, and trends
  • Communicate with OEM reps and TEMs to confirm component feasibility, pricing, and availability
  • Ensure all specs comply with OEM, warranty, and dealership standards
  • Lead execution of Municipal Business Growth Plan aligned with company vision
  • Align stock criteria with seasonality, budget, and third-party vendors
  • Support proposals/presentations with detailed specs and cost analysis
  • Troubleshoot spec errors; coordinate fixes with OEMs/body manufacturers
  • Monitor competitor offerings, market needs, and fleet trends to guide builds
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Generate quotes and complete municipal tenders per requirements
  • Act as a brand advocate for Altruck’s products and services
  • Optimize processes for profitability, efficiency, and compliance
  • Input sales activity into CRM daily
  • Manage truck orders from entry to delivery accurately
  • Attend launches, dealer training, and customer events as needed
  • Design/implement scalable sales strategy for business growth
  • Analyze trends and reports to create accurate forecasts
  • Track sales performance; report data regularly
  • Host weekly sales calls for review and coaching
  • Assist in recruiting/onboarding new salespeople
  • Foster a high-achievement culture and motivate team to exceed quotas
  • Enforce performance standards with progressive discipline when needed
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure seamless customer service
  • Evolve sales processes with market expansion
  • Liaise with OEM reps and suppliers
  • Meet customers to assess needs and recommend trucks/configs
  • Support sales calls, offer coaching/feedback to team
  • Seek growth opportunities, markets, and value-aligned partnerships
  • Provide detailed info on products, financing, and warranties
  • Achieve/exceed monthly and annual sales targets
  • Attend sales meetings and training sessions
  • Follow OHSA regulations and internal safety procedures and other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing a high-performing sales team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communication, and presentation skills – both written and verbal - with an ability to influence and motivate others and present to prospective clients.
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
  • Must possess superior problem-solving skills to achieve win-win solutions.
  • Proven track record in creating sales forecasts, identifying new areas of growth, sales growth, and accurately analyzing sales performance data.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM software is an asset
  • Holds a valid G class license.
  • OMVIC Sales License and DZ license are an asset
  • Occasional on-site visits with customers or body builders plus al travel for training or OEM meetings.
