About the role

Maple Manor Nursing Home in Tillsonburg ON is looking for a Part Time Maintenance Worker to join our team!

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Part time
  • 15 hours a week, plus the opportunity for occasional hours on the weekend
  • Mondays and Thursdays
  • 8:30am to 4:30pm
  • $20.00 per hour

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, you will carry out repairs, adjustments, maintenance and inspections of Maple Manor Nursing Home.

You will perform a number of tasks in the following areas: carpentry, electrical, plumbing, mechanical and painting maintenance repairs and general maintenance of the grounds.

Some of those tasks are as follows:

  • Perform routine maintenance jobs and repairs
  • Lawn care and other landscaping responsibilities (push mower, weed whacker)
  • Window cleaning that occasionally requires working on ladders
  • Power washing and sweeping outdoor areas
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on plumbing systems (leaking faucet, plugged toilets, etc.)
  • Perform building repairs including drywall, paint, flooring, carpentry, ceiling tile
  • Responsible for the completion of all maintenance services requests as assigned
  • Perform other manual duties to clean and maintain landscaped environments
  • Follow Health and Safety Policies and Safe Work practices
  • Report to the Maintenance Manager any issues/concerns
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Good knowledge of construction practices, best practices with respect to building maintenance and repairs as well as a working knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations
  • Must be able to perform the physical aspects of the role which include but are not limited to: walking, standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, squatting, and lifting up to (60lbs.) for long periods of time
  • Able to work safely with a wide variety of hand and power tools and materials
  • Ability to work in a team and independently
  • Ability to read, write and understand English and willingness to follow instruction
  • Must be available for call ins on short notice
  • Current class G driver’s license
  • Must have own Safety Boots
  • Long Term Care Home experience an asset
