NATURE OF WORK

The Department of Communications and Community Relations (CCR) is seeking a motivated Project Development Officer to assist in the implementation of CCR projects including performing administrative tasks and serving as a communications representative for Cree School Board’s events. Using your strong communication, technological, and collaboration skills, you will work in a team environment to participate and support projects for the Cree School Board’s communication strategies.

CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS

Participate in major event planning meetings and serve as the initial point of contact to represent the CCR department;

Monitor incoming communication project requests promptly and efficiently;

Create task cards on the team’s planner and notify the appropriate team member(s) to ensure an organized workflow and timely follow-up;

Update and share resources and tools to support the CCR department;

Keep up to date on best practices and trends in relation to communications;

Support the Communication Consultants in any special projects or initiatives as needed;

May be required to perform routine administrative duties (such as but not limited to preparing documents, presentations, reports, calendar schedules, meetings, and events) as well as participate in planning committees and other priorities as identified by the Director of CCR;

Assume any other responsibility compatible with her/his function that may be assigned by the Coordinator of Community Engagement, Coordinator of Communications and Community Relations, and Director of CCR.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate specialty.

  • Fluency in English is required;

  • Ability to speak Cree is an asset;

  • Ability to work in French is an asset;

  • High level of autonomy and communication skills;

  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills;

  • Available to travel.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

Regular full-time position.

35 hours/week.

The Cree School Board (CSB) provides pre-school, elementary and secondary education to the James Bay Cree youth and supports Cree adults in their pursuit of post-secondary education, continuing education and vocational training.

As an independent First Nation school board recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport, it also develops programs and pedagogical materials in Cree, French and English following Quebec Education Program guidelines.
