About the role
Pilgrims Hospice Society (PHS) is a registered charity that provides supportive and compassionate family-centered care to enhance the quality and dignity of life for those diagnosed with a progressive, life-limiting illness as well as support to those who are grieving the death of a loved one, from any cause.
POSITION DESCIPTION
Reporting to the Manager, Facilities & Services, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing operational support at the Roozen Family Hospice Centre facility on a part-time casual basis. Hours of work expected to vary but will generally occur on weekday mornings or afternoons, on an as needed basis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance as required throughout the facility
- Assist with monthly maintenance checks of the building, grounds, equipment and supplies within the RFHC, including but not limited to grounds maintenance including garbage disposal, pest control, snow removal, spring and fall grounds clean up and summer grounds keeping
- Assist with monthly safety inspections and fire/life safety system, and document
- Perform inspections on resident rooms and carry out minor repairs.
- Perform minor patch and paint jobs throughout the building.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- General maintenance experience required
- Ability to perform manual labor tasks, including the use of hand and power tools, and ladders
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Able to work with and independently and as a team member
- Experience working in the not-for-profit sector considered an asset
- Significant experience with cabinetry, doors and hardware considered an asset.
Mandatory Employment Requirement: Successful candidates will be required to provide a current satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check prior to first day of employment.
