About the role

Are you interested in providing safe and enjoyable aquatic services through one of Winnipeg's many pool facilities? We are accepting applications to fill current vacancies.

As the Instructor Guard, you will:

  • Instruct Lifesaving and Learn to Swim programs.
  • Lifeguard Public Swim and Aquatic programs.
  • Perform daily facility maintenance duties.

Your education and qualifications include:

  • Manitoba Fitness Council certifications for Group; Resistance; Older Adults; Aqua Fitness would be an asset.
  • NCCP certification for Water Polo; Synchronized Swimming; Diving would be an asset.
  • IMPORTANT: Applicants who have been educated outside of Canada must have education which is comparable to the minimum qualification in Canada. Applicants submitting foreign credentials require an official academic assessment report issued by a recognized Canadian assessment service https://www.canalliance.org/en/ at application.

Conditions of employment:

  • National Lifeguard - Pool
  • Swim for Life Instructor
  • Lifesaving Instructor
  • Standard First Aid Certificate (St John Ambulance, Red Cross, or Aquatic Emergency Care).
  • CPR Level C/AED Certificate (St. John’s Ambulance, Red Cross, or Aquatic Emergency Care). Renewed annually.
  • A Police Information Check (Vulnerable Sector) satisfactory to the employer will be required from the successful candidate(s), at their expense. To obtain Police Information Check information please visit www.winnipeg.ca/police.
  • The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
  • Must be 16 years of age.
