JOB OVERVIEW: We are seeking a reliable and experienced General Accountant to manage day-to-day financial operations. This role will be key in maintaining accurate records, supporting our accounts receivable process, and ensuring our books are organized and up to date using QuickBooks and other accounting tools. This role will be based in-person at our Edmonton office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform day-to-day accounting tasks, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Manage accounts receivable (AR) including invoicing, payment tracking, and collections
- Enter and verify data in QuickBooks and other systems with accuracy
- Prepare month-end and year-end reports in collaboration with external accountants
- Reconcile credit card and bank statements
- Maintain and organize financial files and records
- Assist with budget preparation and cash flow tracking
- Communicate professionally with vendors and customers regarding billing and payments
- Provide general administrative support to the accounting department
- Contribute to a collaborative office environment by sharing workload, demonstrating flexibility, and working effectively with team members
- Provide backup support for other accounting functions, such as payroll, as neededOther duties, as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in an accounting role, preferably within a service-based industry
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
- CPA designation is considered an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other standard office software
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Clear Criminal Record checks and Driver’s Abstract.
COMPENSATION
- Salary Range: $33.65-$48.08 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
- Vacation & Holiday Pay: 10% additional pay included with each paycheck
- Benefits:
- 50% employer matching on RRSP contributions
- Annual performance and holiday bonus potential
- Health Benefits cost shared between employer and employee
