The Opportunity:
Responsible to plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and Tiller standards. This position will take place in our St. John’s office, primarily in office with possibility of some remote work.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Engineering Analysis and Design
- Develop engineering specifications and drawings as per industry and QA Management system standards
- Visit sites and meet with clients/contractors to obtain information relevant to design
- Conduct field surveys and inspections of structures and facilities
- Inspect contractor’s work and complete detailing inspection reports
- Check and review designs and drawings done by other employees
- Work with other designers and clients to reach agreement about safe designs and how they may fit in with the aesthetic concept of the construction
- Examining structures in field and advise on measures to be taken to improve their structural integrity
- Develop feasibility plans, schedules and cost estimates by performing conceptual civil and structural design
- Use of various types of software (engineering, project management, etc.)
- Programs to complete daily job tasks
- Ensure complete, quality job folders are being created by him/herself and employees they supervise
- Work is completed independently with a low level of supervision
- Minor project management

Qualifications:
- Completion of post secondary education with a degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
- Classified as a P. Eng.
- 10+ years related experience
- Consulting experience
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Organization and time management.
- Competent in structural analysis software and excel spreadsheets.
- Ability to develop solutions and solve problems reasonably or completely independently.
