Global Hardware Design Lead – Medical Device Innovation Location: Oakville, ON | Hybrid: 2–3 days/week in-office Design the Future of Neurodiagnostic Technology At Natus , we’re redefining how clinicians diagnose and treat nervous system disorders in patients of all ages. Your Role at a Glance As the Global Hardware Design Lead, you will drive architecture and hands-on design of precision analog and digital hardware systems for cutting-edge neurodiagnostic platforms. You’ll collaborate with global teams across engineering, clinical, and manufacturing disciplines to bring complex medical devices to life.
What You’ll Do
- Lead hardware architecture and design for multi-channel analog signal acquisition systems
- Design power management, front-end analog circuitry, filters, ADCs, MCUs, and digital interfaces
- Architect secure wireless modules (BLE, Wi-Fi, cellular) for remote transmission of sensitive data
- Capture schematics using Altium Designer and guide PCB layout to meet performance targets
- Conduct circuit simulations and ensure compliance with global standards (IEC 60601, RoHS, etc.)
- Implement Design for Assembly (DfA) and Design for Test (DfT) to improve manufacturing and test coverage
- Support medical regulatory requirements including ISO 13485, ISO 14971, and FDA 21 CFR 820
- Troubleshoot complex system issues and develop robust corrective actions under clinical conditions
- Mentor junior engineers and lead global technical reviews across product development phases
- Interface with global engineering teams and external technology partners to evaluate and adopt next-gen solutions
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- 10+ years of experience in hardware design, preferably in a regulated or medical device environment
- Strong expertise in analog and digital hardware development
- Proven leadership in global product development and cross-functional collaboration
- Proficiency in Altium Designer (schematics and layout guidance)
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset
Bonus Experience:
- FPGA development and digital signal processing
- Familiarity with ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601, IEC 62304, and FDA QSR
