Qualifications, Experience & Ability

  • French Immersion Teacher

  • Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor of Education Degree, and;
    • French Second Language Methodology, and;
    • Superior French Proficiency (as verified by the OPI instrument), and;
    • Teaching methods courses at corresponding levels (Grades 4 to 6 Core French requires Elementary methodologies, Grades 7 to 12 Core French requires Secondary methodologies , or; deemed qualified by the Teacher Qualifications Chart

  • Minimum Ability

    Predominately demonstrated through the interview process, the candidate will be assessed on their ability to effectively deal with situations that are likely to arise. External applicants must meet a minimum threshold of 70%.

Notes

  • 40% of the year is 78 days. There are options that can be considered such as but not limited to dividing these days into thirds and have the successful applicant work 26 full days each term to provide the flexibility to substitute the other days.
  • The successful applicant may be co-teaching, working in small groups or teaching whole classes while the classroom teacher works with small groups. This will depend on the student needs which may change through the year.

Additional Assets

Flexibility with scheduling, collaborative mindset and working as a member of a high functioning team will be considered an asset.
