About the role

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Marketing, the Specialist, Content-Marketing supports the organization’s annual content marketing strategy, editorial vision, content pillars and editorial calendar for each core market by generating content for Travel Manitoba’s digital marketing channels including social media, website, mobile applications, email marketing and blogs. The position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, and knowledge and experience with social media channels and CMS applications, to ensure consistency of messages across multiple networks.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate brings at least five years of experience in digital and social media marketing, with a strong ability to craft engaging content tailored to diverse platforms. They are a clear and compelling writer, deeply familiar with Manitoba’s tourism landscape, and confident using digital tools – including content management systems and basic photo/video editing software. This individual thrives in collaborative, fast-paced environments and uses digital tools confidently to plan, publish, and analyze content. They are professional, solutions-focused, and committed to representing Manitoba’s diverse communities and destinations through inclusive and engaging content. A willingness to travel and occasional evening/weekend work is expected. Bilingualism in English and French is an asset.

Position Overview

• Supports the organization’s annual content marketing strategy, editorial vision, content pillars, seasonal

campaigns, and editorial calendar for each core market, while ensuring content reflects the diversity of our

province in a respectful and inclusive way.

• Manages, strategizes, and creates content independently for Travel Manitoba’s social media channels including

Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, and Pinterest, while focusing on growth and engagement with these audiences.

• Creates ads for social platforms including Facebook, Tik Tok, Instagram, and Pinterest and ensuring ads are in-line

with allocated budget.

• Creates and manages social media related contests.

• Acts as the main contributor to the Travel Manitoba blog with support from the content team, while ensuring

quality and consistent tagging and conventions across posts. Reviews other contributors’ contributions to ensure

consistency across blog posts.

• Generates editorial content for other digital marketing channels including website and mobile applications and

strategizes and develops compelling content themes within a master content calendar.

• Fulfills partnership commitments as required.

• Takes and edits video and photos for the purpose of conceptualizing visual content appropriate for social media

distribution.

• Supports the influencer and content creator program with targeting, itinerary strategy, content creation and

escorting as required.

• Attends Manitoba events, festivals, and attractions to create content, as directed.

• Incorporates emerging trends and technologies in content marketing. Provide thought-leadership to the broader

marketing team on trends, strategies, and technologies.

• Broadens understanding of Manitoba as a tourism destination so that knowledge can be shared to attract visitors.

• Provides guidance and informal mentorship to junior staff.

• Participates in the training of new staff as required.

• Takes on back up/supporting role for other Content Marketing staff as needed (e.g. vacation).

• Researches, updates, proofs, edits, fact checks and writes as necessary, a variety of materials.

• Monitors social media platforms for complaints/concerns from the general public and work with management on

move forward action.

• Supports the Francophone strategy through content translation, blogs, ads and sharing content through social

media platform posts.

• Performs other related duties as assigned/required.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, or an equivalent combination of related education and

experience.

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in social media marketing, digital marketing, and/or related field.

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• High attention to detail and ability to multi-task

• Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software

• Proven understanding of content and social media marketing

• Proven experience in storytelling and strength of writing skills, related to the travel industry

• Proven ability to work as part of a team

• Excellent knowledge of Manitoba travel experiences, tourism products, businesses, and local ambassadors

• Creative and dynamic individual with exceptional communication skills

• Solution oriented and professional attitude

• Demonstrated experience in, and a passion for, social media

• MS Office Suite

• Willingness to travel within the province and work evenings and weekends

• Ability to adapt to new situations

• Photography and video editing skills

• Visual storytelling skills

• Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset

• Current valid Manitoba driver’s license

• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
