Senior Wildlife Biologist
The Organization:
A.E.W. LP was formed in 2017 by Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council member communities to carry out “on the ground” work related to archaeology, the environment and wildlife protection. This work has been made necessary by activities of others within the Nlaka’pamux homeland including transportation, mining, forestry, oil and gas, and utilities projects. The Nlaka’pamux Nation Tribal Council is not opposed to development within our homeland, but developments and activities must be consistent with Nlaka’pamux title and rights.

The Role:
A.E.W. Limited Partnership (A.E.W. LP) is seeking a full-time on-going Senior Wildlife Biologist in the Southern Interior or Lower Mainland of British Columbia. The Senior Wildlife Biologist supports and oversees a variety of wildlife-related projects ensuring that they are completed to a high standard and support the protection and advancement of Nlaka’pamux title and rights. This leadership and project management role will embody the Nlaka’pamux fundamental principle of take care of the land and the land will take care of you. Reporting to the Director of Wildlife & Environment, the Senior Wildlife Biologist will:
- Lead in the design and implementation of biological programs.
- Recommend and implement programs for population monitoring, habitat design and effectiveness monitoring, resource planning, and risk mitigation.
- Conduct assessments and author reports that characterize wildlife populations and habitat impacts resulting from environmental changes, human activities, and harvesting practices.
- Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to deliver expert advice on wildlife and habitat management.
- Mentor and support junior and intermediate biologists, offering technical direction to both field and office teams.
- Ensure compliance with provincial and federal environmental regulations through oversight and guidance.
- Assess and respond to requests for proposals by developing comprehensive work plans, budgets, and timelines.
- Complete wildlife surveys (i.e., bats, amphibians, ungulates, breeding birds, raptors).
- Commitment to the protection and advancement of Nlaka'pamux title and rights.
- Working in partnership with members of the Nlaka'pamux Nation Tribal Council to ensure consistency of approaches and methodologies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Post Secondary Degree in Biology, Natural Resource Sciences, Environmental Science or related field.
- Possession of or immediately eligibility for designation as a Registered Professional Biologist.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience, including fieldwork.
- Valid driver’s license

- Knowledge of environmental legislation and regulations.
- Excellent analytic and research skills (leveraging a sound knowledge of scientific literature).
- Strong working knowledge of biostatistics and the ability to apply and interpret statistical analyses.
- Comprehensive knowledge of environmental impact assessment and an understanding of how effects of project-related developments on terrestrial resource values should be investigated and reported.
- Experience with designing and implementing scientific studies/field programs and managing field teams and the collection of wildlife baseline data
- Ability to interpret data in a clear and cohesive manner
- Experience operating in a dynamic environment that requires flexibility and teamwork.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills (prioritizing, time management, record keeping, follow up).
- Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and Adobe Acrobat. Experience in GIS and CAD would be considered an asset.
