The Opportunity

The Ministry of Highways is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking leader to join the Corporate Services Branch as Director, Program Support. Reporting to the Executive Director, this pivotal role provides strategic leadership in the development and implementation of administrative policies, training programs, and employee development initiatives across the ministry.

As Director, you will lead a province-wide team that delivers essential human resource and financial support services to all ministry divisions. You will also oversee a team dedicated to advancing a strategic, ministry-wide approach to learning and development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and implementation of effective administration policy and procedures.
  • Overseeing training strategies and programs that foster innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting system implementation, process management, and reporting requirements.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in administrative leadership, along with certifications in project management and change management. You are a proven leader who aligns personal values with organizational goals, inspires others, and drives results through collaboration and innovation.

Your leadership style emphasizes inclusion, accountability, and excellence. You are recognized as a change agent and strategic influencer, with a track record of successfully advancing corporate initiatives and fostering a culture of continuous improvement at the team, ministry, and government levels.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of government administrative policies and systems;

  • The ability to lead, coach, and direct a team of talented professionals and collaborate with others;

  • The ability to develop and provide strategic options, comprehensive advice, briefing papers, recommendations, and perspectives for senior officials;

  • The ability to identify, develop, and deliver key business solutions with a high degree of innovation and accountability;

  • The ability to build commitment through collaboration, consultation and consideration of client and stakeholder impacts, seeking out opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement; and,

  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with and influence a variety of stakeholders.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position were obtained through a graduate degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field, along with several years of experience supervising, training, and coaching staff.
