Databricks Developer
About the role
MatchBox Consulting is currently seeking a Databricks Developer for a 6-month contract role with our Vancouver based client. The Preferred Candidate will work 4 days a week in the clients Vancouver office, however, fully remote candidates will be considered. Expected working hours will be 7 hours a day from 8:30AM to 4:30PM, PDT, five (5) days per week.
OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Manager, Data Platform Engineering, the Databricks Developer will support the design, development, and implementation of data solutions using Databricks. The Databricks Developer will play a critical role in ensuring successful data integration, stakeholder collaboration, and quality assurance throughout the project lifecycle. This role is ideal for a developer with a strong background in data engineering, Databricks, and cloud computing, looking to contribute to a high-impact data analytics initiative.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and Development: Design, develop, and deploy scalable data solutions using Databricks, ensuring best practices in data engineering and analytics.
- Azure Integration: Integrate Databricks with Azure services such as Azure Storage and Azure Active Directory to leverage cloud capabilities.
- Data Engineering Best Practices: Apply knowledge of best practices for designing and implementing scalable and cost-effective data solutions on Databricks, focusing on data quality, integrity, and security.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with existing data engineers to gather requirements, document processes, and ensure seamless integration of data solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in data engineering using Databricks.
Technical Skills:
- Deep understanding and experience with Databricks, including its architecture and analytics capabilities.
- Familiarity with integrating Databricks with Azure services.
- Knowledge of best practices for designing scalable data solutions.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Apache Spark.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Requirements:
- Certification in Databricks or Azure is advantageous.
