About the role
Are you seeking a rewarding opportunity to change the lives of women while working alongside a dedicated team of professionals? Do you want to play a vital role in transforming the Women’s Emergency Accommodation Centre (WEAC) into a world-class shelter offering wraparound clinical support? As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at WEAC, you will support the delivery of primary care services to the women of WEAC in both clinic and mobile settings throughout the shelter. You will be part of a holistic and compassionate approach to health care, empowering the women of WEAC on their journey to a better tomorrow. What You Bring To The Team
- 1+ years of primary care nursing experience, including developing and delivering care plans.
- 2+ years of experience working with marginalized populations, with an understanding of the barriers vulnerable women face in accessing healthcare.
- Graduate of an approved Licensed Practical Nurse program (CLPNA-accredited).
- Strong ability to build relationships and practice a relationship-based approach to care.
- A commitment to harm reduction, person-centered care, trauma-informed practices, and strength-based support.
- Confidence and composure in crisis situations, including de-escalating individuals experiencing mental health crises or under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a safe, welcoming environment by using a person-centered, trauma-sensitive, and harm reduction framework when delivering care.
- Provide on-site health care support alongside a Nurse Practitioner, ensuring high-quality primary care within the LPN scope of practice.
- Maintain accurate and organized electronic medical records for efficient follow-up, referrals, and patient support.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure women receive individualized, comprehensive care.
- Share knowledge on healthy lifestyles, risk reduction, and preventative self-care to empower women in their healing journey.
