Seeking locum coverage at the Quinsam Medical Clinic, in Campbell River, Vancouver island. We have a beautiful community with mild weather during the winter, and Mt Washington only a 45min drive away. Until recently we were well supplied with family doctors, but there have been several recent retirements and departures, so this would be a great opportunity to try out our community if you are looking for somewhere to practice. The locum is very flexible, as I have a smallish fee-for-service practice at a busy clinic.
We can chat about what that schedule might look like and a combination of in clinic and Telehealth from home is also an option. Coverage could include my 17 nursing home patients, +/- optional maternity, hospital inpatients, walk-in clinic, and surgical assisting.
Benefits
May be eligible for additional remuneration in accordance with the Rural Subsidiary Agreement (RSA) including:
- Fee Premium - 6.09%
Community Information
Campbell River is a seaside community on Vancouver Island that is tucked up next to Strathcona Provincial Park - an alpine park that offers excellent recreation. We are known for exceptional mountain biking, hiking, kayaking and scuba diving opportunities. The waterfront hosts a paved separated multi-use trail that is great for cycle commuting, dog walking and all the rest. There is also extensive forested trail networks around town, some which host giant trees and waterfalls. Great weekend trips include site-seeing in Tofino, hiking Cape Scott, kayaking Telegraph Cove, cycling Quadra Island, or meditating on Cortes Island.
However, the best thing about Campbell River is a very down-to-earth community where science is respected and foundational for many residents. We have a thriving Indigenous community that is uncovering its cultural strength, including offering Kindergarten in Liq'wala/Kwak'wala, skillful art around town, and cultural events.
