As a Student Material Handler, you will be a key part of our Distribution Centre in ensuring the smooth distribution of products and materials to our Dealer stores across Atlantic Canada. You will be picking, packing, shipping and receiving merchandise so you will need to be able to perform strenuous physical activity throughout your shift. We are currently seeking candidates for our Afternoon Shift – Monday to Friday 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. Candidates will be expected to work full time for the rest of the summer, then part-time hours during the school year. Hours during the school year are flexible, dependent on availability, but Fridays until 11:00 pm will be mandatory.
Ready to make an impact in a new role? Here’s how:
- Responsible to the Shift Supervisor for helping to maintain service levels to Home Hardware Dealers.
- Contributing to the smooth flow of merchandise through the Distribution Centre.
- Keep work areas clean and organized.
- Operate material handling equipment and comply with all health and safety regulations.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor to complete all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the shift such as picking, put away, receiving and shipping.
We’re looking for:
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
- Good attendance record and punctuality is a requirement.
- Must be willing to be trained on powered lift equipment.
- Demonstrate high-quality accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent reading and number skills.
- A reliable team player with a great attitude and work ethic.
- Ability to work Public Holidays and Saturdays when required
- A significant output of physical effort is required through walking, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, etc. The ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, without difficulty, on a consistent basis is needed.
Definition of a Student:
A Student Team Member is someone currently attending school full-time or is registered to attend school full-time at the beginning of the next semester (i.e.: January or September).
