Job Description:

The incumbent is responsible for friendly, efficient service following all Algonquin College Food Services operating standards, policies, and procedures. They will assist the Manager with the workflow in the Marketplace Food Court and 35th Street Market Café locations. They will be responsible for opening and closing the Marketplace Food Court during the weekend.

They are to ensure proper handling of food and currency within the location by following all safety standards in the workplace. The incumbent is responsible for adjusting when needed, and adhering to the established par stock levels. They would ensure the proper product rotation, inventory count and merchandising in conjunction with the Manager.

The incumbent will assign tasks and guide employees while overseeing adequate food production according to the meal periods. The incumbent organizes and coordinates while providing support and assistance to achieve departmental standards, customer satisfaction and exceptional food quality.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Ensures efficient customer service in each kiosk, including required food preparation, beverage duties, and daily cash procedures;
  • Complies with and enforces all Algonquin College Food Services policies and procedures;
  • Responsible for opening and closing the Marketplace Food Court during weekends;
  • Follows all guidelines and established par stocks when ordering, stock rotation, inventory counts and receiving stock;
  • Completes all required documentation including recording of waste, inventory counts, pre-rush checklists, cash management, and operational audits with the Manager;
  • Communicates with the Manager of the location and with members of the location on day to day operations;
  • Assists with training new staff, provide guidance and assigns tasks. The incumbent may also have to work other stations when there is a staff shortage;
  • Ensures floors, tables, and chairs are properly cleaned throughout the day;
  • Ensures proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas following all cleaning and maintenance checklists.

Required Qualifications:

  • One (1) year certificate or equivalent; Culinary or Hospitality/Food Service;
  • One (1) year related experience in running a kiosk in a commercial food service operation specializing in merchandising, food preparation, sales, cash systems, equipment and customer service;
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment, handle multiple priorities, stay organized and work well under pressure;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skill;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere; is enthusiastic and motivated;
  • Ability to provide quick, efficient, courteous and tactful service;
  • Ability to lift, bend, push, pull and stock a variety of merchandise.

This is a ten (10) month position with an annual lay off period of up to two (2) months. The position completes a 40-hour work week.

Anticipated Weekly Schedule:

This position will require early morning, evening, and weekend work.

Monday to Wednesday: 11:00AM to 7:30PM

Saturday & Sunday: 8:00AM to 4:30PM
