Reporting to the Collections Manager, the Museum Digitization Photographer produces images of varying complexity involving digital, studio, and location production. This position will produce various forms of media used for a wide range of documentation, digital, print, online, and exhibition platforms enhancing public access to the Provincial Collection.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Produces high quality images using industry standards to meet operational requirements;
- Follows best practices for care and handling of artifacts and cultural objects;
- Prepares museum objects for photography, including movement of objects to and from the photography studio, and set up of lighting, backdrops, etc;
- Undertakes digital content asset editing, encoding, format transfer, mastering, formatting, and deliverables, across systems to ensure technical quality;
- Maintains the photography studio, supplies, and equipment for museum use according to best practices;
- Provides expertise and advice on best photographic processes and specialized equipment to improve the ongoing digitization program;
- Captures engaging images at various PEI Museum and Heritage Foundation (PEIMHF) events or programming and educational activities;
- Uses a Digital Asset Management System (database) to catalogue, manage, and protect digital assets;
- Collaborates with colleagues to develop products which enhance PEIMHF’s brand recognition and increase retail sales in the gift shops and the online store; and
- Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certificate of Photography and Videography;
- Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered;
- Experience in the Museum Industry;
- Experience working with database/digital asset management;
- Valid Driver’s license.
Other Qualifications:
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Firearms License.
Preference will be given to UPSE Civil Employees as per the UPSE Civil Collective Agreement.
