About the role

We are seeking a Product Data Specialist to play a key role in ensuring the integrity, structure, and usability of our product data. They will focus heavily on data cleanup, product categorization, and supporting day-to-day product maintenance tasks. The incumbent helps to execute product-related data projects that improve internal operations and enhance the customer experience. If you would enjoy bringing clarity and structure to a high-volume product environment and helping to make the customer experience easier, faster, and more intuitive, this could be the right fit for you!

Key Responsibilities

Product Data Cleanup & Maintenance

  • Cross-reference internal SKUs to vendor SKUs to support procurement and system accuracy.
  • Change or reassign product numbers as part of system or categorization changes.
  • Confirm and identify obsolete products to support inventory accuracy and system hygiene.

Product Structuring & Categorization

  • Sort products within product lines into cohesive, logical groupings for improved navigation.
  • Categorize and organize products to support printed materials (e.g., Net Sheets) and online catalog usability.
  • Set up logical catalog structures across a product base of 20,000+ items.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Use Excel and Power BI to manipulate, validate, and extract insights from product data.
  • Support product team requests through data clean-up and structure optimization.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Must-Haves

  • Industry Product Knowledge: Demonstrated understanding of plumbing, PVF, or hydronics (e.g., pipe sizing, system components, vendor familiarity).
  • Advanced Excel Skills: Proficient in XLOOKUP, CONCATENATE, LEFT/MID/RIGHT functions, and general data manipulation.
  • Attention to Detail: A natural ability to spot inconsistencies and maintain high data quality standards.
  • Organizational Thinking: Ability to group, sort, and structure product data logically for both internal use and customer-facing tools.
  • Proactive Communication: Comfort working with Product Managers and asking clarifying questions to understand business needs.

Nice-to-Haves

  • SQL or other data querying experience.
  • Familiarity with Power BI (for extracting data, not building dashboards).
  • Experience working in AS400 or similar legacy systems.
  • Ability to assertively represent the needs of the data function within broader product discussions.
  • Prior experience supporting catalog development or eCommerce product structures.
