Position Summary: The Patrol Supervisor is responsible for leading and supporting the Patrol team, year-round, in delivering exceptional guest safety, emergency response, and on-hill risk management. The Patrol team consists of Lifeguards, Bike Patrol, and Ski Patrol. This role ensures daily operations of the Patrol team run efficiently and in alignment with resort safety protocols. This role supports the setup and maintenance of hill safety equipment and provides Professional Responder level medical care in accordance with the National Occupational Competency Profile for Paramedics at the Emergency Medical Responder level.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Direct day-to-day operations of the Patrol team across all seasons (ski, bike, and waterfront), ensuring a consistent and high standard of safety.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and ongoing training to Patrollers and Lifeguards.
  • Support scheduling and shift planning to ensure consistent coverage.
  • Provide Professional Responder level medical care in accordance with NOCP EMR Standards.
  • Conduct Opening and Closing sweeps for safety, marking hazards, repairing safety equipment and documenting findings.
  • Advanced level skier with the ability to ski all runs on resort and transport patients in a safe manner using the toboggan and safety equipment.
  • Work in adverse weather conditions, extreme cold for full shift.
  • Continuous patrol, documentation and repair of hill conditions throughout shift.
  • Hill Maintenance and placement of signs, fences, safety devices etc.
  • Ride and inspect lift for proper operations.
  • Inspect and maintain Medical Response Equipment, Treatment Rooms, Extrication and Rescue Equipment. Advanced knowledge of cleaning and infectious disease control standards.
  • Respond and de-escalate conflict among guests and staff members, support other departments in conflict resolution. Assist management with security issues by documenting and providing supporting witness statements.
  • Enforce the Alpine Responsibility Code.
  • Conduct Lift Evacuations and Patient extrication under NFPA 1006 Rescue Standards for High and Low Angle Rope Rescues.
  • Participate in local Search and Rescue operations, assist outside agencies including Emergency Services.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced level skiing ability is required, with confidence on all resort runs and rough terrains.
  • Certification at the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) level or higher is required (e.g., AEMCA, ER Nursing), from a recognized training authority such as Red Cross or St. John Ambulance.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in ski patrol or similar emergency response role; previous leadership or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
  • Available to work weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays
