THE OPPORTUNITY – WELLNESS SERVICES PRACTITIONER (Full Time)
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Facilitate the connection of persons with disabilities to be actively engaged in the community through meaningful activities that increase their overall well-being. This may include activities such as volunteerism, recreational and leisure pursuits, life-long learning, and civic engagement.
- Support individuals to know their rights, voice their thoughts and needs, build relationships in the community, and advocate for the services they require.
- Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate recreational, social, and/or educational activities.
- Provide Relief Coverage to other teams within your Component when needed.
- Communicate effectively with consumer’s support network, including updating guardians and family members of any necessary changes
- Administer medication as needed (training provided)
- Facilitate connections to the community to achieve physical, mental, and social well-being
WHAT YOU BRING
We are looking to engage team members with diverse skills, experiences and interests. These are some of the competencies and credentials we are looking for:
- Diploma and/or Degree in Community Rehabilitation, Disability Studies, or a related social science.
- Minimum of two years of experience working with persons with disabilities or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
- Well-developed and effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
- Effective emergency and crisis management
- Willing to use your personal vehicle to transport consumers to different locations
- Demonstrate a high standard of professionalism aligned with Vecova values
- Maintain a positive working relationship with all Vecova team members
- Represent Vecova in a professional manner
- Demonstrate a high level of initiative and enthusiasm
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Demonstrate a high level of administrative and IT capacity
