The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety provides supervision and rehabilitation services for adult and young offenders, promotes appropriate and effective policing, and supports community and public safety services throughout Saskatchewan.
The Ministry is responsible for overseeing Saskatchewan’s correctional system and facilities, protection of people, natural resources and infrastructure within the province of Saskatchewan. The Ministry’s goal is to create and maintain safe and secure communities in Saskatchewan. Public safety is of the utmost importance, and the Ministry is committed to providing targeted prevention, intervention, and suppression initiatives. The Ministry strives to collaborate and work in partnership with stakeholders to ensure community safety.
The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety is seeking a highly motivated, conscientious, innovative and strategic leader to be the Manager of Finance within the Central Services Branch which will support the Saskatchewan Marshals Service. You will use strong communication skills to provide advice to program management on all aspects of financial planning, management, reporting, controls and analysis. You will develop and monitor financial plans and services, provide direction on acceptable internal control policies and procedures to protect and safeguard assets of the Ministry. You will manage financial forecasting (revenue and expense), as well as financial reporting for the branch.
The successful candidate will require knowledge of government, financial, budgetary and legislative processes and policies, be results-orientated and be able to plan the work for the unit. Using strong conceptual and collaborative problem-solving and relationship building skills, you will facilitate and negotiate solutions to complex issues among a diverse range of individuals. The position demands a knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards.
To qualify for this position, the successful candidate will typically possess a background in Finance or equivalent combination of education and experience within the financial sector.
