Initial location: Kitchener City Hall

Overview

The City of Kitchener is looking for dedicated and passionate role models who are committed to serving our community and making a positive impact on youth. As part of our City of Kitchener Youth Services team, you will work with a team to organize and implement nightly activities for youth in a fun and relaxed environment.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in creating a high-energy team ensuring to collaborate and communicate effectively with all team members
  • Assist in the planning of creative and engaging programs, activities, and special events
  • Promote inclusion and belonging by seeking youth input on program ideas and ensuring the safe engagement of all participants
  • Consistently demonstrate commitment and enthusiasm in delivering high-quality and impactful youth programming, ensuring active participation and meaningful experiences for all participants
  • Actively participate in the delivery of program plans, leading various youth activities such as sports, arts and crafts, games, etc.
  • Positively support young people in their efforts to try new activities, develop new skills
  • Role-model positive behavior for youth (teamwork, responsibility, initiative, and sportsmanship)
  • Supervise participants at all times and, as a team, address unsafe and unacceptable behavior
  • Assist youth participants to work together to resolve problems and conflicts
  • Ensure safety and cleanliness of program area and program equipment
  • Assist with the set-up and take-down of program equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure safe use, condition, and storage of equipment
  • Complete records and reports including program registration, accident/incident reports, damage reports, and safety checklists.
  • Provide first aid as required.
  • Proudly represent the City of Kitchener by providing quality programming and exceptional customer service
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion or partial completion of secondary school education (or the equivalent)
  • 1 month of related experience
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older by the first day of employment, unless otherwise specified
  • Valid CPR Level "C" and Standard First Aid Certificate
  • Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check at your own expense as a condition of employment issued after date offer of employment is made.
  • Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
