***Athabasca University's Faculty of Business is currently seeking a temporary part-time (******0.8 FTE)***Academic Advisor, ending April 2026.

The Position
The incumbent is an integral member of the Faculty of Business and provides front-line support for AU-FB's Graduate programs recruitment, graduate enrolment, advising, and a co-contact for AU's University Relations IMC team. The Academic Advisor provides administrative support to the faculty and is responsible for logistics and assistance with the faculty's special events. The Academic Advisor is the first point of contact for staff, students, and visitors to the Faculty of Business and communicates directly to learners and prospective learners via phone, email, video call or in-person at trade shows or recruitment events.
Qualifications
- A post-secondary diploma/degree in a related field, with three years of experience in customer service, digital communications, digital content management, or data management.
- The incumbent must be confident working with complex data systems such as Microsoft Dynamics CRM, MailChimp, and HubSpot. Solid experience with digital content management systems, databases, word processing and spreadsheet applications is necessary.
- The incumbent will have experience testing and mapping various business processes and protocols utilizing Banner applications, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, various customer-relation management systems and other relevant software such as Windows and MS Office functions. Experience using WordPress is also ideal. Strong knowledge of SurveyMonkey, Canva, and Adobe Acrobat is preferred.
- They must have effective questioning and analytical techniques and have a short-term goal orientation yet be able to understand the larger issues. The incumbent should be a self-starter and team player, open to identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- It is crucial that the incumbent share their expertise with other team members who may require support and guidance. Their work finding solutions to complex software systems must be communicated clearly and efficiently to team members and stakeholders. They must be able to demonstrate the ability to work on time and budget-sensitive projects and enjoy working cooperatively with diverse groups of people.
- The incumbent requires outstanding communication skills in spoken and written form. The incumbent is expected to have a professional demeanour and the ability to deal confidently, empathetically, and knowledgeably with inquirers including difficult and/or demanding ones. They must be able to present the University's and other competitors' program information objectively and professionally. Excellent interpersonal skills, time management practices, and the ability to work in a constantly changing environment are required. The incumbent must be able to work independently under pressure, be persuasive and be able to "sell" to prospective students at Athabasca University and graduate business online education. The incumbent must be able to support/assist current students to find the information they need.
- Experience in and knowledge of communications, public relations, student service and support, a demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
