Status: Contract (9 months)

About the Faculty Digital Support Specialist Role:
Reporting to the Associate Dean, Teaching Excellence, the Faculty Support Digital Specialist (FSDS) will play a critical role when it comes to supporting faculty and is essential to the success of several key initiatives in Innovative Learning. This position provides direct support to faculty through the COSSID (course outline software supporting instructional design) initiative and is currently involved in designing a development site for new program builds that still requires ongoing work and guidance.
With an increasing number of online course builds, we also rely on the FSDS to support the quality and accessibility checks and to ensure standards are met. Additionally, regarding the online builds, which continues to be a major priority for Humber, the FSDS supports faculty with tools such as Articulate and the LMS platform (Blackboard), helping them create engaging and effective digital learning experiences.
The FSDS will work independently and collaboratively with other members of the Teaching Excellence and Digital Learning teams consisting of ed developers, curriculum specialists, instructional developers, designers, technologists and other stakeholders. The incumbent must also possess strong leadership and relationship-building skills, be goal-oriented, be able to deal with conflicting priorities, have strong project management skills and possess excellent communication skills.

Education
An MA or MEd in a related field is preferred, along with certificates, badges, courses, micro-certs related to Learning Management Systems, coaching, training, and educational technology tools. A deep awareness of the challenges and opportunities faced by faculty and students in the current state of post-secondary online and EdTech facilitated learning environments.
Experience/Skills
A minimum of three (3) years working with learning management systems, as well as a similar experience with the engagement with the design and development of online courses and digital experiences, and work within an adult learning environment or a professional learning or development arena. A demonstrated, mature ability to design and deliver workshops and experience with the development of scalable resources for post-secondary instructors.
Working awareness of AODA legislation, the UDL framework, adult learning principles, along with deep comfort with technology and working in an ever-changing environment. A growth mindset for self and others. The ability to make timely suggestions for supports and communications that benefit the challenges faced by faculty as surfaced by the day-to-day experience of the IL Support Centre team. The vision to anticipate the trends and technological changes that will impact how we support the adoption of EdTech and to advise the department on ways we can work to be prepared to support our community.
