We are currently seeking a Demand Planner to join our team. Reporting to the Team Lead but based on site at the client’s offices within the City of Toronto, the Demand Planner will work closely with Business Units and the client’s Procurement team to ensure accurate project scheduling aligned with multi-stakeholder constraints, including materials, permits, and transportation.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized and responsible for implementing and managing best-practice processes related to materials demand planning.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Attend weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly business unit meetings at various client locations to support demand planning and provide updates on supply chain issues (e.g., delays and reasons).
- Schedule forecast meetings with Business Units and supply chain teams as required.
- Analyze statistical data, inventory levels, and shipping timelines to generate demand forecasts, including long-term projections (up to three years for major equipment).
- Coordinate with buyers (and buyers with vendors) to ensure materials are available when needed.
- Assist in the allocation of limited materials, working with Business Units and Supply Chain leaders.
- Prepare weekly reports for Business Units with ETA updates, focusing on past-due materials.
- Handle urgent calls and emails from Business Units regarding supply chain issues.
- Respond to requests for material, expediting, job scheduling adjustments, and exception report updates.
- Provide forecast updates to management, supply chain leadership, and Business Units regularly.
- Report on important forecast changes and their potential impact.
- Analyze and prepare reports for cross-functional stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in a business-related discipline.
- Professional designation or certification in Supply Chain Management (an asset).
- 3–5 years of experience in Materials Planning, Demand Planning, Supply Chain Management, and/or Procurement at an enterprise level.
- Experience with ERP software (SAP preferred).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel between client offices within Toronto.
- Experience in utility or regulated industries (an asset).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple business unit demands, and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to manage constraints and competing priorities effectively.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
