About the role

Indigenous Community Engagement Lead

Parent Support Services Society of BC (PSS)

T erritorial Acknowledgement & Context

PSS operates on the unceded and ancestral territories of Indigenous Nations across what is colonially known as British Columbia. Our head office is on the ancestral and unceded lands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓ əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), səlil ̓wətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and kʷikʷəƛ ̓ əm (Kwikwetlem) Peoples. We recognize that settler colonialism—including the child welfare system— continues to displace and harm Indigenous children and families.

We are committed to walking alongside First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples, listening deeply, and working to transform the structures that uphold family separation and intergenerational harm.

About PSS

PSS is a provincial non-profit supporting the well-being of children by uplifting those in caregiving roles. Our work is grounded in collective care, mutual learning, and community leadership. Indigenous work is led by Indigenous staff and/or communities.

We facilitate peer-led parenting support groups across BC and operate the Kinship Care Help Line, which supports relatives raising children outside the colonial foster system. The insights from our front-line work inform our broader advocacy for community-led, culturally grounded alternatives to child welfare.

Most of our staff identify as Indigenous, Black, and/or racialized, and several are former program participants. We are also a certified Living Wage Employer.
