Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team at Thorpe Industries. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. Located in Prince Albert, this position will contribute significantly to our financial operations and support our commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and variance analyses
- Process invoices and payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial policies
- Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate financial records
- Support the year-end audit process by providing necessary documentation and reports
- Help maintain the general ledger and ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately
- Collaborate with team members to improve accounting processes and streamline workflows
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred:
- Internship or relevant experience in accounting or finance
- Construction experience
- Familiarity with accounting software
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis
- Basic knowledge of accounting software and financial management tools
- Understanding of general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
Soft Skills and Cultural Fit
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
